Earth Day was founded in 1970. U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin called for a nationwide demonstration in the spring of 1970 aimed to raise awareness of environmental issues. It worked. The first national Earth Day was April 22, 1970.
RECYCLING
Bins are located in the basement:
green for paper and cardboard
blue for metal, glass, plastic, and carton according to the rules of the New York Department of Sanitation.
TRASH
Regular trash goes down the garbage chute.
Please be mindful of what you put down the chute and place any sharp item, broken glass or potentially breakable glass items into a rigid container before disposal to prevent housekeeping staff from injury while collecting the trash.
