Sustainable Lab Checklist and WCM Green Labs Certification
Research laboratories are energy and resource-intensive due to the sensitive work they conduct. To help them reduce their environmental footprint, we have created a Sustainable Lab Checklist outlining actions they can take to become greener. Based on the action taken, labs can obtain points and achieve a Green Labs Certification. There are four levels of certification: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. We encourage researchers to retake the certification every two years to try to improve their score.
After a pilot period during which the checklist was tested by volunteers, the program was launched in June 2025. Already, six laboratories have received the WCM Green Labs Certification.
