Earth Day was founded in 1970. U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin called for a nationwide demonstration in the spring of 1970 aimed to raise awareness of environmental issues. It worked. The first national Earth Day was April 22, 1970.
The Student Residence has a recycling room separated from the trash room.
Recycling Room: has a green bin for paper and cardboard, and a blue bin for metal, glass, plastic, and carton according to the rules of the New York Department of Sanitation.
Trash Room: has a garbage chute and cardboard collection.
Please be mindful of what you put down the chute and place any sharp item, broken glass or potentially breakable glass items into a rigid container before disposal to prevent housekeeping staff from injury while collecting the trash.
